The Role

As Chef, you're responsible for planning, preparing and cooking all meals for the chalet guests. You'll work within a defined budget (€11.50 per person per day) to create varied, appetizing menus that cater to different dietary requirements. This is a demanding but rewarding position requiring strong technical skills, creativity, and the ability to consistently deliver quality meals in an intimate setting.

Your Responsibilities

Menu Planning & Meal Preparation

Plan varied menus within budget (€11.50 per person per day). Provide afternoon tea and a 3 course (set) evening meal to chalet members, their family and guests. The daily menu must be written on the board by the end of breakfast. Shop for ingredients, manage kitchen supplies, and maintain food standards and budget. Cater to dietary requirements including vegetarian options and allergies.

Kitchen Operations & Quality

Maintain high food hygiene standards and kitchen cleanliness. Manage inventory, storage and food safety protocols. Ensure consistent meal quality and presentation. Work efficiently to complete meals on schedule.

Guest Interaction & Responsiveness

Engage with guests to understand dietary needs and preferences. Take special requests and adapt menus accordingly. Be responsive to feedback and willing to make adjustments. Contribute to a warm, welcoming chalet experience.

Team Management

You are jointly responsible with the Chalet Manager for supervising the three chalet hosts, managing their punctuality, and organizing their kitchen duties prior to and during service.

Budget Management

Work strategically within the €11.50 per person per day food budget. Source ingredients efficiently, minimize waste, and make cost-conscious decisions without compromising meal quality.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience & Requirements

  • • Proven work record of cooking/catering excellence (minimum 2 years experience sought)
  • • Demonstrable evidence s/he can cope with volume catering
  • • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum)
  • • Ability to plan and cook varied, balanced meals within budget
  • • Experience catering to dietary requirements and allergies
  • • Valid passport and driver's licence
